What are they waiting for??

I dont know about you, but when I purchase a ticket for a huge jackpot you can be darn sure Im going to check the minute the balls are drawn and I would not hesitate to claim my prize! One day soon…. So who is this person?

TORONTO – Check your wallet – it could pay off with $50 million.

The lone winning ticket for the Oct. 7 $50-million Lotto Max jackpot was purchased in Woodbridge, Ont., just northwest of Toronto, but the winner hasn’t come forward to cash it in yet.

“We suspect the winner may not be a group win but an individual or a couple, who may want to take their time to organize their affairs and speak with a lawyer and a financial adviser before coming forward and figure out what they’re going to do with all this money,” OLG spokesman Sarah Kiriliuk said Monday, adding group wins usually come forward very quickly.

“Or the winner just may not know and hasn’t checked their numbers yet,” she said.

This is the fourth time a $50-million Lotto Max jackpot has been won in the Greater Toronto Area this year.

In January, 19 Bell Canada employees from an east-end call centre had their prize put on hold when more co-workers came forward to claim a share. (see our previous article for full story on Lotto 649 Etiquette).

Less than a month later, 24 Bombardier co-workers also won the prize, again with additional claimants coming forward.

Then in April, three bakers who worked together for 17 years at a west-end bakery split the jackpot.

‘The OLG prize centre and lottery teams have been waiting for the winner or winners to come forward,” Kiriliuk said. “We are always excited to give away large prizes of this size to Ontario lottery players.’”
